WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE
The City of West University Place draws its name and atmosphere from neighboring Rice University. "West U" is actually its own city inside the city of Houston, with its own police, fire and zoning ordinances. Academic charm, large tree canopies, and putting residential concerns first from a zoning perspective has made this one of Houston's most appealing neighborhoods.
"West U" is located near Rice Village, one of the cities most popular eating and shopping districts. Also contributing to the academic charm of the neighborhood is Rice University, along with many of the top museums and theater venues.
